Main Role: Account management and sales development

The Role

We envisage the role will have a considerable sales focus: As such, you will be required to develop new business opportunities, from referrals, generated leads and by using your own contacts and connections. We are looking for self-starter with previous sales experience and a never give up attitude. You will be tasked with developing your own book of business, managing and growing a portfolio of customer accounts, maintaining and developing relationships, and providing outstanding customer service.


Once you have successfully identified new business and converted your prospects in to clients, you will manage their portfolio, understanding their individual needs and building strong working relationships to support them on an ongoing basis. Within this role you will conduct inbound and outbound calls to support customers with general enquiries, provide product specifications, take customer orders, and understand their specifications of design, quantity, and deadlines. 

  • Winning new business - Identify and pursue sales opportunities with ‘new’ customers
  • Initiative to target desired client types / make speculative approaches / generate sales from cold calling - and to develop these into long term relationships
  • Develop existing customer accounts
  • Build quotes using Promotional Office
  • Contact liaise and negotiate with suppliers
  • Manage the order process
  • Monitor ‘live’ orders to ensure that customer deadlines are met
  • Maintain log of unsuccessful quotes and reasons for not securing the business
  • Keep abreast of product / market developments


  • Excellent communicator with the ability to forge strong business relationships with both suppliers and customers
  • Proven experience within a sales environment, working to and achieving targets
  • Highly proficient IT skills (Microsoft office)
  • Strong mathematical skills (for quote preparation)
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and self-motivate
  • Familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (preferred – not required)
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • The ideal candidate will have 2 years + experience in an account manager role, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets, preferably within the promotional products industry

Reporting relationship

In addition to our new Cotswold HQ, Bright Ideas has a small office in Birmingham. The team works collaboratively and this role will report directly to the MD.

  • Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 (We can also offer some flexibility within these office hours for the right candidate)
