Our speakers hail from a range of expert backgrounds to help attendees answer some of the burning questions of why, what and how we address sustainable best practice for the industry, with a range of inspiring takeaways and insights to help every business.

Planet Mark

Planet Mark are the BPMA’s sustainability certification partner and offer support to the BPMA and its members on their sustainable business plans. Planet Mark is an internationally recognised sustainability certification, and their mission is to empower organisations to make meaningful and positive change to their operations for a brighter and more sustainable future. Planet Mark members are awarded certification through measuring and reducing their carbon emissions annually. As well as this, Planet Mark ensure their members are educated and given all the resources needed to make continuous progress in their sustainability journeys.  


Elle Chartres, AdNetZero (Advertising Association)

Elle is the UK Director of AdNetZero, the advertising industry’s drive to decarbonise the production, distribution and and publication of advertising. AdNetZero (ANZ) works across the marketing and advertising spectrum helping the industry deliver on its full potential to support businesses and build a more sustainable future. Understanding the climate emergency is a global matter, AdNetZero works towards global solutions for this global industry. Elle will be sharing views on what the rest of the marketing and advertising industry is addressing climate change and what their expectations are of the promotional merchandise industry in their action plan.

ANZ deliver their work across a 5 point action plan. The BPMA are also part of AdNetZero through their membership of the Advertising Association.

Expert Advice

Kevin Duncan and Sarah Duncan are established business authors who have now combined forces to produce an essential book.  Sarah brings her expertise as a sustainability consultant to Kevin’s considerable experience in business strategy. Together they have written The Sustainable Business Book and we are delighted they are hosting a special members workshop, 'Stop, Think, Challenge' at the Conference again this year. Expert Advice are a verified, preferred provider to the BPMA.

Sarah is a business advisor who now specialises in Sustainability (ESG). She has been in business for over 30 years – starting with luxury hotels, then moving through private club and spa development in Asia, to setting up her own consultancy, Sleeping Lion (now part of Expert Advice), in 2005. She wrote The Ethical Business Book in 2019, and has continued to build her knowledge in the area of sustainability by successfully completing a Business Sustainability Management course at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and a Circular Economy course with Delft University of Technology. She designed and created The PLANET System online products. She helps businesses understand the commercial and moral benefits of sustainable and ethical business practice (or ESG - Environmental Social Governance). Kevin is a business adviser, marketing expert, motivational speaker and author. He is the UK’s best-selling business author, and has written over 20 books, which have sold over 250,000 copies, and been translated into over 17 languages. They have been voted Telegraph Business Club Book of the Week, WHSmith Book of the Month (on many occasions), and Foyles Book of the Month. After 20 years in advertising and direct marketing, he has spent the last 20 years as an independent troubleshooter, advising companies on how to improve. In agencies, he worked with 400 clients, deployed £600m of funds on over 200 brands, oversaw over 1,000 projects, and won 35 awards for creativity and effectiveness. 


Jodie Newman, The Business Allotment

Jodie Newman is co-owner of The Business Allotment and an experienced business strategist, creative thinker and speaker. She has worked with businesses of all sizes and particularly smaller SMEs for over the last twenty years to put great ideas, simple strategy and practical ideas at the heart of what they do to help them grow. Jodie is a regular speaker for the BPMA at Professional Development Days.

Jodie built The Business Allotment on the foundational belief that great ideas grow businesses. Her creative approach to working with business owners delivers new perspectives on their businesses, driving new insights and fresh ideas that drive business growth.
