The world is changing fast and the demands of our industry are changing just as rapidly. Consequently, the BPMA Charter Status is designed to both develop and, subsequently, achieve the highest standards within our specific niche of the promotional marketing discipline.

Primarily, the Charter Status is aimed at increasing the level of professionalism of both distributors and suppliers, as it is becoming increasingly apparent that more end users are seeking to purchase campaign product through a 'recognised' supply chain.

BPMA Charter members are perceived to add essential core values to the supply process, with creativity, safety and professionalism being implicit. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the BPMA Charter Status is working successfully in conferring trust and reliability in its holders.

How to become a Charter Member

What are the requirements to attain Charter Status?

  • A Charter Member has had to earn Charter status
  • A Charter Member can provide continuity of supply
  • A Charter Member can provide quality of supply
  • A Charter Member can provide regulatory certification/documentation when required
  • A Charter Member is interested in the long term supply chain partnership, not just the next order
  • A Charter Member will work with the customer, ensuring that the challenges of the market are met
  • A Charter Member will work with the customer, ensuring that the challenges of the market are met
  • A Charter Member will be constantly scrutinised to ensure compliance with accreditation standards
  • A Charter Member will be periodically re-assessed to ensure maintenance of these high standards
  • A Charter Member is forward-looking and wishes to challenge and improve standards, and further develop the market
  • A Charter Member logo on an order confirmation will, in future, be recognised as a promotional marketing discipline 'safety symbol' by buyers/marketers/individuals throughout the industry.

Which documents are required to attain the Charter Status?

You will need to have a trading platform transparency statement (from your company CEO), which is updated on an annual basis. We will also need to see documented evidence of your customer service processes (which includes how you manage customer complaints).

Qualifications

Examples of the type of 'qualifications' we are seeking:

ISO 9001, 14001 or equivalent processes/CSR documentation/ Ethical, Environmental & Carbon footprint policies/ Compliance statement(s) and/or Supplier Base Code Policy/ SEDEX membership/ Customer Service & Complaint Procedures/ Credit Ratings/ Insurance Certification, and any further (or indeed, alternative) evidence of good business practice in support of your application.


The bpma will, of course, need to have copies of all documentation, the content of which the bpma reserves the right to question and/or return where necessary. You will need to sign the status document, and complete the Charter log, which will be kept on record.

Summary of Documents Required

  • Documented evidence of customer service policy and procedures and/or ISO 9001 certificate if you have already obtained this certification
  • Customer Complaints Procedure
  • Environmental policy and/or ISO 4001 certificate if you have already obtained this certification
  • Current financial report demonstrating solvency of business
  • Charter Application Form – completed
  • Charter Transparency Trading policy Statement – signed and dated
  • Other supporting documents (accolades and achievements such as Insurance certificates/awards)
  • Charter log sheet listing ALL documents provided including completion of the check list.
