Cornish manufacturer CHX Products shortlisted for sustainability and marketing at Made in Britain Impact Awards

News . 1st October 2026

Bodmin-based CHX Products has been shortlisted for both Sustainability Initiative of the Year and Marketing Campaign of the Year at the Made in Britain Impact Awards 2026.

CHX manufactures branded merchandise, such as keyrings, pens and desk accessories, for businesses and organisations across the UK, sold through promotional merchandise distributors. Rather than offering recycled options alongside a virgin plastic range, every product CHX makes is manufactured from recycled plastic, much of it sourced from UK end-of-life fridges and freezers.

Sustainability Initiative of the Year

In 2026 so far, the company has used 50 tonnes of recycled plastic in production at its Cornwall facility. Waste is designed out rather than managed after the fact: 95% of production waste is reused in-house, with scrap and rejected parts reprocessed and fed back into new products rather than sent to landfill. The facility’s solar panels have generated 86,790 kWh this year, covering an estimated 40% of its total energy needs.

Alongside its standard recycled plastic, CHX offers R+, a recycled and biodegradable material, and a Traceable Marine Plastic range sourced via Waterhaul, with 5% of profits from that range donated to Surfers Against Sewage. The same thinking extends to packaging, with orders packed in biodegradable bags and around 600,000 supplied to customers this year.

Marketing Campaign of the Year

The marketing shortlisting recognises the launch of the Fidget Puck in June 2026, a recycled plastic fidget product designed specifically for the branded merchandise industry. Most fidget products available to the industry are imported consumer items that are difficult to brand well. The Fidget Puck was designed from the outset with two flat 36mm print faces, is made from a single material so it can be recycled properly at end of life, and was tested with neurotypical and neurodivergent adults and teenagers, whose feedback shaped the final product.

The launch campaign was built around putting the product physically into distributors’ hands. Alongside trade press coverage, a dedicated landing page and a multi-wave mailout programme, CHX sent branded samples so distributors could judge the print area for themselves, and produced white-label website banners and custom-logo imagery at no extra cost so distributors could promote it to their own customers straight away. Within ten weeks, the Fidget Puck had sold over 14,000 units and become CHX’s best-selling new product launch in two years, with the sample mailout returning over £52 in revenue for every £1 spent.

Tom Verow, Operations Director at Mojo Promotions, said the Fidget Puck “offers a sustainable and locally manufactured alternative that truly stands out in a crowded market of silicone and tat.”

Charlotte Denman-Johnson, Marketing Manager at CHX Products, said: “For us, sustainability is not a separate initiative, it is simply how we manufacture, and the Fidget Puck shows what that looks like in a single product. Our distributors are the ones selling our products on, so the campaign focused on giving them a sample they could hold and ready-made marketing they could use straight away. To be shortlisted for both is a real credit to the team here in Bodmin.”

The two shortlistings follow the news that CHX founder and Managing Director Andy Knight has been shortlisted for Inspiring Leader of the Year, giving the company three places on this year’s Made in Britain Impact Awards shortlist. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on Wednesday 4th November 2026.
