As per the EU Commission’s EUDR ‘simplification package’ published in May (see EUDR May 2026 Updates), an amendment to the Regulation was proposed to amend the scope of derivative products included.
This month, the EU has adopted this amendment, simplifying the list of products covered by the Regulation under Annex I (the 7 core commodity categories remain unchanged).
Summary of amendments:
- Removal of cattle hides, skins & leather, and vulcanised rubber
- Addition of soluble coffee and certain palm oil derivatives (the new products added will come into force from 30 December 2027)
- Removal of samples and products used for testing, as well as waste, used and second-hand products, and packing materials
The EU Commission has confirmed that EUDR will not be re-opened, meaning there will be no further extensions. Large and medium organisations must comply 30th December 2026, and micro and small enterprises will have until 30th June 2027.
