Sustainable Supporter

Bio Laboratories is one of the fantastic BPMA members that are signed up to the A Good Thing platform as a paying supporter.

Sue from Bio Laboratories told us that since joining A Good Thing:

“We have donated a wide range of products including toiletry bags, lip balms, eye masks, bubble bath, hand sanitisers and toothpaste – to name just a few items. We find the process through A Good Thing very easy.”

By listing the firm’s excess products on the A Good Thing platform, Sue explained that they “avoid them going into landfill while supporting several charities. We endeavour to spread the donations across a wide range of charities including those tackling homelessness and poverty; hospices; and cancer and mental health charities.”

“It has had a great impact on the business: our customers appreciate what we do and the whole team here are involved and enjoy hearing what we do.”

Restful Night’s Sleep

The team at Bio Laboratories has recently donated 150 sleep eye masks and 720 lip balms, which were matched with three grateful charities.

The sleep eye masks were matched with Waythrough, a charity providing free, confidential support for people experiencing issues with their mental health, with alcohol and drugs, and with housing and related areas. Waythrough offers a range of services – from help with employment and training, to support with mental health and supported housing. The sleep eye masks will be given to residents to ensure they can get a restful night’s sleep.

Care For The Community

The lip balms listed by Bio Laboratories were donated to Step Up MCR. Step Up MCR is a charity based in North Manchester which supports community health and wellbeing projects through the power of local giving. Step Up MCR will be using the lip balms to put inside ‘care kits’. These are small kits given to those undergoing cancer treatment or those who may be immunocompromised in North Manchester. The kits contain mini first aid kits, tea bags, lip balms, hand creams and other wellbeing products.

A Gift For Everyone

For over 150 years, the Together Trust has been championing and caring for people with disabilities, autism and complex health needs, as well as providing life-changing support for care-experienced people. The lip balms were added to gift parcels for the young people supported by the charity. As part of the Trust’s Christmas Appeal, it made sure every young person in its services received a gift over the festive period.

Calling Other Businesses!

These three matches show the impact that donations can have on charities and the people they support. As Bio Laboratories has shown, a business committed to reducing its environmental impact can have a positive impact on people – as well as the planet.
