The BPMA is proud to announce a new partnership with Pepala, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to bridging the global educational resource gap by repurposing surplus and obsolete stock from businesses.
Led entirely by volunteers, Pepala provides essential educational supplies—such as pens, notebooks, bags and sports equipment—to schools in Malawi and other developing regions. With many children lacking even the most basic tools for learning, Pepala’s mission is to support education while reducing waste.
Through this new partnership, BPMA members now have the opportunity to donate excess or obsolete stock directly to Pepala, ensuring their products are used for social good rather than ending up in landfill.

“Pepala are thrilled to partner with the British Promotional Merchandise Association to amplify our mission of transforming surplus stock into opportunity. This collaboration allows us to connect with forward-thinking businesses across the UK who are eager to repurpose unused merchandise—giving it new life in classrooms where it’s needed most. Together, we’re not only reducing waste but empowering children with the tools to dream, learn, and thrive.” – Amara Sharif, founder and executive director of Pepala
“This partnership is yet another opportunity for BPMA members to manage excess stock and end of life of products in a responsible manner that extends the value and gives each product a new use amongst communities that are so appreciative of what our industry can provide.” – Phil Goodman, BPMA CEO
Businesses with suitable stock can arrange donations by contacting the Pepala team directly at info@pepala.org.uk. Pepala manages all logistics, from packing to delivery, and provides updates and photos where possible to demonstrate the difference each donation makes.
BPMA members are encouraged to explore how their unused stock could help equip classrooms, empower learners, and contribute to a more sustainable supply chain.
