Back in the summer, the BPMA announced an exciting new partnership with Pepala, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to tackling the educational resource gap by repurposing surplus and obsolete stock. Many schoolchildren in Malawi still lack even the most basic classroom essentials such as pens, notebooks, and paper. Pepala bridges this gap by redirecting unused stock from businesses and supplying it directly to students who need it most.
The promotional merchandise industry is uniquely positioned to make a meaningful difference — and many BPMA members have already stepped up with remarkable generosity.

These donations, including notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers and tote bags – are already making a measurable difference in classrooms across Malawi, helping students access the tools they need to learn and thrive. So far, thousands of items have been donated, helping Pepala expand the reach of its educational supply programmes while diverting perfectly good materials from landfill. This collaboration not only supports global education but also reinforces our shared commitment to sustainability and responsible industry practice.
Pepala are inviting UK businesses to donate surplus items that support students in Malawi, including essential stationery, art supplies, notebooks, maths sets, backpacks and drawstring bags, as well as simple sports equipment such as footballs, tennis balls and skipping ropes.

If your organisation has surplus, obsolete, or end-of-line stock that could be repurposed for education, Pepala would love to hear from you. Even a small donation can make a huge difference.
