BPMA member PA Promotions is making sustainability a priority by putting surplus merchandise to meaningful use through the A Good Thing (UK) platform. The Cardiff-based firm, which has also signed up to the BPMA’s StepForward Pledge, is demonstrating its commitment to responsible business practices and reducing waste.
Following a warehouse audit, PA Promotions listed a range of showroom samples and unused stock – items in perfect condition – on the platform. Through the A Good Thing platform, they were matched with AP Cymru, a self-funded charity based just outside of Cardiff that supports neurodivergent children and their families.
AP Cymru received a donation of notebooks and additional goods, which are now being used by staff and volunteers to support their vital services. These include training sessions, workshops and confidence-building activities for parents and children alike.
Tracey Bancroft, Grants and Funding Lead at AP Cymru, explained the impact: “We’re constantly looking for ways to achieve what we need without eating into resources that may impact our services to our clients. Without A Good Thing we would have had to spend time and energy exploring other avenues before spending the funds, which are resources we don’t have. Overall, a 10/10 experience and we will certainly be using the platform again.”
PA Promotions also had a positive experience engaging with the platform. Adam Wheeler, Graphic Designer, said: “As a business we were delighted to learn about A Good Thing because we’re always striving to improve our eco status. Uploading the goods was easy: we posted a few items, and when our charity contact came to collect the notebooks, we mentioned some other things we had – to see if she wanted them. She ended up taking all the remaining items! It is most definitely a ‘good thing’: the charity was pleased with its goods, and we were delighted they were put to good use. We will most definitely repeat the process whenever we have surplus stock to spare. Such a great initiative!”
